Another wild horse unleashed by KTM in the adventure motorsports market!

The Austrian brand revealed the new 1290 Super Duke GT 2017 at the EICMA in Milan recently.

The new 1290 Super Duke GT is expected to be made available in the market by May, 2017 with an expected price tag to be well above of the Super Duke R which is at 17,399 USD.

Claiming an identical 173hp of the Super Duke R, KTM has tweaked the ECU to produce the peak 1000 RPM than of the Super Duke R; however, the two models has identical gearing and chassis, the GT will have the advantage of a quick-shifter as Standard!

Since the bike is an adventure tourer, KTM had to add some extra weights to provide a 23 liters fuel capacity tank, five liters more than the Super Duke R, with a stronger rear sub-frame (optional) designed to accommodate hard panniers or to carry a passenger.

Though the dry weight of the new Super Duke GT is 16kg higher than that of 189kg Super Duke R, the GT comes with some exciting features such as comfortable seating, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring system, heated grips and an adjustable windshield are the essentials for an adventure touring motorbike. Its semi-active WP suspension automatically modifies damping as per the road conditions and the load on the bike.

The new 1290 Super Duke GT will have six-speed gearbox with electronic quick-shifter, allowing full throttle clutchless upshifts; however, the downshifts are the usual old fashioned play with the clutch. There are three riding modes to choose from, Comfort, Street and Sport that a “Moto Psycho” will never get bored with!
